LEURA HARVEST FESTIVAL
3rd May 2015
Leura Harvest Festival
With a focus on fresh, regional, and sustainable, the Leura Harvest Festival is set to take place in Leura Mall during autumn, when the village is at its beautiful best! Following the success of the inaugural Leura Harvest Festival, held in May 2014, this year’s event promises to be even bigger and better. Up to 90 stalls will line the Leura Mall, selling seasonal food and sharing expertise on all things fresh, regional, and sustainable. You can also expect a number of fun competitions open to all age groups, including the popular Chook Show, plus jam making, lamington, and knitting competitions. It’s a great community event for all the family members. Time: 9am to 4.30pm.
The 2015 WildEndurance team walking challenge will partner with Science for Wildlife to raise funds to track and save koalas from extinction in the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. Now in its eighth year, WildEndurance is a stimulating challenge for teams of two – seven participants who will walk or run either 50 kilometres or 100 kilometres while experiencing first-hand the beauty and stunning scenery of the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. The event passes through the homes of more than 400 different kinds of animals, such as spotted-tailed quolls, koalas, long-nosed potoroos and the Blue Mountains water skink, which happily live in the rugged gorges and tablelands of the Greater Blue Mountains. Run by The Wilderness Society, WildEndurance, is open to mums, dads, families, fitness clubs, walking groups, sports teams, community groups, nature lovers, corporate teams and “bucket list” achievers.

The great soaking rains received late winter have set the scene for a magnificent array of spring colour. The Open Gardens scheme and the Leura Gardens Festival are only two of the formal celebrations along the way but you can visit Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens all year round, along with Mt Wilson, Mt Irvine and many smaller gardens like the Blackheath Rhododendron Gardens.
